Choosing CCTV for factories and warehouses

Separate entrances, storage areas, corridors and loading zones. Decide whether each view is for general activity or detail at a specific point; a wide overview differs from an entrance identification view.

Define each camera’s purpose

Review lighting and the environment

Check night lighting, gate backlighting, dust, moisture and mounting positions. An outdoor camera is not automatically suitable for every industrial environment; check the exact model’s protection rating.

Plan network and power routes

Measure actual routes before ordering cable and locate racks and switches. Long routes may require distributed network points or fibre after a site review, rather than an unplanned single cable run.

Specify recording history

Specify how far back footage must be available and whether recording is continuous or event based. Check recorder disk limits and bays, then size storage for actual recording settings.

Request a clearly scoped quotation

Provide a plan or site photos, point counts and coverage areas. Separate equipment, cable, conduit supply, infrastructure labour and installation in the quotation for a clear comparison.
